Accommodation

Publié le 25 janvier 2012

In the application form, the student will be asked what type of accommodation would be preferred.
  • If the student wishes to be provided with a room a university hall of residence:
The rate is about 135 €/month.
The attribution of a room in a student hall of residence can only be scheduled through our office. Please do not contact the CROUS directly as they will only redirect you towards our own department at the IEP. There are a limited number of rooms and we cannot guarantee everyone with a room at a hall of residence. The student will be informed of the outcome of the application for accommodation during the first two weeks of July.

  • If the student wishes to obtain individual accommodation or flat-sharing:
The rents in Toulouse vary upon the kind of accommodation and their location. For example, the rent for a flat in the centre of town, for one person (bedsit or small one-bed flat) is between 350 and 450 €.
We would always advise that the student start looking around as soon as possible because finding accommodation in Toulouse may prove somewhat hard. Accommodation and flats to rent can be found in local estate agents: a maintenance fee will have to be paid and the agency will require a deposit (in general equal to two months' rent). This deposit will be paid back to the student upon leaving. (NB: some estate agencies charge a fee of approximately 150 € just to consult accommodation available for lease that they have on their books).

There are also other possibilities: homestay accommodation, dormitories, host-families.

Housing benefit
Housing benefit is available from the French Family-Allowance Office (Caisse d'Allocations Familiales or CAF) as from your second month in France and on proof of having obtained a resident's permit (if needs be).
