At Sciences Po Toulouse, international experience is a core component of the degree programme. The third year is entirely dedicated to a mobility experience, giving every student the opportunity to develop their academic, linguistic and professional skills in an international environment.

Studying abroad, completing an international internship or enrolling in a dual degree programme represents a unique opportunity to explore new academic approaches, discover other cultures and strengthen both personal and professional goals.

Through an extensive network of academic partners across five continents, Sciences Po Toulouse supports several hundred students each year in building an international pathway tailored to their ambitions.

INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE DEGREE

International experience is integrated throughout the degree curriculum. From the compulsory third-year mobility to end-of-studies internships abroad, Sciences Po Toulouse provides a structured and progressive framework enabling students to build a coherent international experience.
 

During your 3rd year: a compulsory international mobility year

The third year marks a defining stage of the programme. Entirely dedicated to an international mobility experience, it allows each student to broaden their academic training within a global context.
 

Studying at a partner university

Students may spend one or two semesters at one of Sciences Po Toulouse's many partner universities around the world.

This academic opportunity allows you to: 

  • Consolidate language proficiency
  • Engage with different university systems and pedagogical approaches
  • Broaden academic knowledge in areas complementory to the Sciences Po Toulouse curriculum
  • Develop intercultural competencies in an international academic environment
 

Partner institutions are located across Europe, North and South America, Asia, North Africa and Oceania, offering students a broad range of destinations and academic specialisations.

Academic mobility 

A "mixed mobility": combining academic studies and professional experience

Mobility can also take the form of a combinied pathway, associating:

  • One semester of study at a partner university
  • One semester of internship, in France or abroad

This formula enables students to integrate academic enrichment with practical professional experience within a single mobility period.

 
Internship mobility 

During your 5th year: an end-of-studies internship abroad

The end-of-studies internship is a significant opportunity for students to engage with the international professional environment. Placements may be undertaken within:

  • A non-governmental organisation
  • An internationally operating company
  • A research institute
  • A European or international institution
  • A foreign public administration
 

This experience allows students to apply the competencies acquired throughout their degree programme while gaining professional expertise in an international context. An internship abroad also represents a valuable asset for professional integration and the development of an international network.
 

Internship mobility

Through the dual degree programme with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid
Sciences Po Toulouse offers a double degree programme in partnership with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), one of Spain's most prestigious universities.

This excellence programme gives selected students the opportunity to follow an integrated curriculum brtween the two institutions. Upon completion, they are awarded degrees from both establishments, providing dual academic recognition in France and Spain.

Additionally, through Sciences Po Toulouse's partnership with the University of Valencia, Master's students may undertake a semester of academic exchange in Spain, further enriching their postgraduate experience with an international dimension.

GUIDANCE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY


Sciences Po Toulouse is committed to accompanying students throughout every stage of their mobility project. The International Relations Office and the Internship Office provide comprehensive support covering preparation, administrative procedures, funding applications and follow-up during the period abroad.


This support is delivered through a range of dedicated initiatives, including the annual Mobility Forum, an opportunity for students to explore partner institutions and hear from peers returning from mobility, as well as pre-departure workshops held during the second semester. The Mouv'Box, coordinated by the COMUE de Toulouse, further complements this support by providing students with practical resources, information sessions and dedicated appointments throughout the academic year.
 

Mobility preparation: key stages

The mobility preparation process begins in second year and follows a structured timeline. The Mobility Forum in October provides an initial opportunity to explore destinations and begin defining a project. Students submit their preferences online in November. These are reviewed by the selection committee in December, with host institution assignments published shortly thereafter. Administrative enrolment with the partner institution takes place between February and June, with first departures possible from July.

Fund your mobility
 
Financial support is available to help students carry out their international mobility project.

Students can in particular benefit from Erasmus+ grants, intended for mobility within Europe, as well as international mobility grants offered by the Région Occitanie, which supplement this funding to help cover costs related to studying abroad.

Upon returning from your mobility period, we encourage you to make the most of this experience in your academic and professional trajectory. The Careers, Internships and Continuing Education Service is available to help you translate your time abroad into a genuine asset, whether for your CV or future applications.
