On Tuesday 29 September 2026, 35 students enrolled in the Universidad Complutense de Madrid / Sciences Po Toulouse dual degree were invited by the French Embassy in Spain to engage with President Emmanuel Macron during his state visit.

The President of the Republic addressed some 400 students from various Madrid universities in the paraninfo of the Colegio de San Bernardo at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. The event, organised by the French Embassy in Spain, formed part of the official programme of his two-day state visit.

Among the audience, a delegation of 35 Sciences Po Toulouse students enrolled in the dual degree with the Complutense, drawn from all year groups, was the largest delegation among the French students in Spain invited to the event.

A Conversation Shaped by the “Polycrisis”

The President answered questions from the distinguished writer Javier Cercas, honorary doctor of Université Toulouse Capitole, of which Sciences Po Toulouse is a constituent institution, and who was welcomed at our premises last December. Questions also came from the journalists Clara Jiménez and Fernando Arancón, as well as from three students of the Complutense, Autónoma de Madrid and Carlos III universities.

Centred on the multifaceted polycrisis, the debate called on Europe to take back control and to invest in its youth.

A Memorable Experience for Our Students

For the Sciences Po Toulouse students, this meeting was a unique opportunity to take part in a discussion on the future of Europe, which lies at the heart of their dual French-Spanish curriculum.

Sciences Po Toulouse thanks the French Embassy in Spain for this wonderful opportunity offered to our students.
